Temptation

I am very good a following my weight watcher points when there is lots of healthy food in the house and no temptations...BUT....Matt keeps buying these 4 pack cadbury caramel eggs. He has bought 3 of these boxes in the last couple weeks and he has eaten one...you do the math. Now in my defence the kids got one or two here or there...but the rest...all me. Anyway, I love these so much when I was pregnant Matt would buy me a case of them (well almost) and I would store them in the freezer when a special urge would hit. I am counting the points for them, 4 each, so if I eat 2 a day (8pts) and you only have 20 points a day, it doesn't make for a good weight loss plan. I have lost 9 pounds so far which I am very proud of, but these little suckers are making that rest of the pounds to lose that much harder!

Taking One for the Team

(The picture of the animal is Hunter's animal he hunted for food...he really got into this)

We planned to let the kids build a grand fort during spring break. I mistakenly said we could all sleep in completely not remembering that ...

1) I am not under 12 anymore and much larger
2) I am claustrophobic (this is no tent, it is a coffin)
3) I have a very "sensitive to the elements" back problem

Not to ruin any building fun I didn't bring up my issues. All day they tinkered and built this mansion. Hunter was the foreman and kept adding on rooms so each of us could have our own wing. At one point he pulled the tape measure out of the garage, jumped on the counter and measured how tall I was...

He said, "Mom! You are 69 inches wide! How am I going to fit that!"
I said..."Not wide honey...please, not wide."

Anyway, night rolled around and it was time to climb in...or time to bring up my issues and that I wasn't joining the sleep part. I will lay, hang, and just be apart of the fort fun. But sleep...my back has a limit. My issues didn't go well on an already tired crowd. Hunter was devastated. I was devastated that he was devastated...are you following? Anyway, I felt like a loser mom. Which must happen every once in awhile to keep mom's in check, it goes with the title. Anyway, Matt saved the day, and calmed everyone down and slept in the sheet coffin fort. I love this man. He woke up looking like a mac track ran him over.

For the record and prosperity to know and understand....I HATE HATE HATE when my back keeps me from participating in family fun. Most of the time it doesn't...but once and awhile it does. I know I am supposed to learn something from this...that apparentlyI haven't yet.

Wrapped Around Her Finger....

Last week Jessica and Daddy had planned a date for Saturday to go skiing, just the two of them. Apart of Matt's everyday routine, work day or weekend, is to check Mission Ridges online snow stats. Saturday rolled around the wind was high, the fog was thick, and it was cooollldd. I of course told Jessica how miserable it would be and to stay home with mommy...what fun. She wouldn't hear anything of it. We told her that we can go another day....nope....the crocodile tears began to roll. It must be known that daddy will go in ANY conditions...in fact the worse the better as it means less people tracking up all the snow. Anyway, as Daddy was suiting up to go, Jessica's tears began and she says to us,"I don't understand why daddy is going without me...." Okay....she is REALLY gooood...So of course daddy's heart turned to slush...He said, "Okay come on sweetheart, lets go."
She was cold, and endured crazy winds and didn't complain. She came close once suggesting when a good time to go in was...simply a suggestion...She had a wonderful ski day keeping up skiing on black diamonds.
....She tried the same tears today to get out of staying at church (Logan was home sick with strep throat and Matt and I were trading off at church)...she got shot down quickly.

Ah forget it...

Well tonight I just had "ah forget it" attitude....

I usually count points (on WW and I have lost 9 pounds) but tonight we ordered 2 pizzas...."ah forget it" ....I have been good all week.

I usually don't like to spend any money on take out...but I said "ah forget it".... I am too tired to cook and we can eat pancakes twice next week.

I usually buy movies on payper view or record one during the week for "Friday Night Movie Night", they are cheaper than renting at the store...tonight we said..."ah forget it" and spent 6 bucks renting BOLT....I wanted to see it.

I usually let them take their foamies downstairs for movie night but they have to sleep in there beds...tonight, let them stay where they were... "ah forget it" I am too tired to argue or carry blankets upstairs...

I usually make them drink water with their dinner and tonight?...pop... it was only 69 cents.

I usually don't buy movie snacks cause they cost more, make us fat and well I am cheap...tonight we got them EACH their own..."ah forget it." Well this one was a more if your good at Walmart I will get you a treat tonight for movie night so it falls under bribery not "ah forget it"...

I must be losing my mean mommie edge....or just getting to tired to keep up...

Spring Break 09

We officially started our Spring Break, for FHE tonight we had a planning meeting. Everyone got 3 pieces of paper to write 3 ideas onto. We then read them a loud and voted on which ones we were going to do for our week off. I failed to mention the "terms". Which resulted in Jessica's choices being, go to Hawaii (spelt Hywi), ride a hot air ballon, and go camping. Logan's was ride an airplane... so after we brought them back to reality that it had to be in Wenatchee and mostly free, we continued...

This is what we came up with...

1. Play tennis
2. Go bike riding and have a picnic
3. Have a Mario Cart Tournament
4. Have a family rest day (stay in jammies and lounge around) I like this one...
5. Go bowling
6. Read books, finish Leven Thumps (good book)
7. Flash Light Tag
8. Have friends over
9. Go skiing
10. Build a fort and sleep in it.
11. Go get ice cream.

I think we can manage it...I was surprised at how simplistic they were (once we ruled out the trips around the world). Really they just like being all together....we also promised each night before bed we would play "fee fi fo fum." It is a game we made up a couple of years ago where we sing "fee fi fo fum, I am going to get the little one" and we chase them to bed. But now they are older we altered it a little. Mom and Dad each got a Nerf gun with one bullet and we had to shoot the kids and if they are hit they have to go to bed...it is actually harder than it sounds, they are fast little boogers...

Smelly Potions

Jess has been talking about her secret potions lately. I couldn't tell you in great detail what these are about because yes I admit it...I tune out a good part of the kids stories. They are soooo long winded and there are so many of them. Oh, you do it do...don't judge me. Anyway, she finally asked one day if I wanted to see her special potions. She took me by the hand to an overturned wheel burrow....where her secret potions lay....the wonderful imaginations of a child. I still remember when I was her age and I used to walk home from school I thought I was a secret agent. I would talk into my watch and hide behind trees, man I would call that more weird than imaginative....

Easy Baking

Have you ever cooked with an Easy Bake Oven? First you need to purchase the $3.50 mixes that consist of about 3 spoonfuls of mix that you add water too. Then you warm up the light bulb for 15 minutes which surprising gets nice and toasty. Once the light bulb is ready, add you smashed your mix into the little tin you start wondering if you are cooking for elves... As we pushed the tin into the oven with the special tongs I noticed the writing on the oven door WARNING NOT MEANT FOR COOKING FOOD...hmm what are we doing here then? We disregard the label and Jess asks if we set the pretend temperature dial to 30, 40, or 50. I told her "sure" as I set the microwave timer for 12 minutes. After a long wait Jessica pulls it out. Amazingly it didn't look too bad compared to the package picture. Jess walked around the house giving all the boys a crumb size taste, remember this thing is small. I think I am going to look online for homemade easy bake recipes this was one expensive cookie.

Never Too Old

My parents always amaze me in all they do. They have proven time and time again that they are never "too old" to play with their grandchildren. Since the kids have been born they haven't let anything hold them back...sledding down the mountain on inner tubes...ice skating (even if it did cause a minor concussion), and now...jumping on the tramp.

The are truly kids at heart....the only difference between the kids and them...entering and exiting the activities....

Pirate Party

Logan's Pirate Party Highlights
1. Inviting 32 people...anticipating 32 people....12 showing up....my deodorant worked that day.
2. Logan's face after coming home after school and seeing everything all decorated for him.
3. Watching Shauna blowing up many many balloons...Hunter told her she had a lot of hot air.
4. Watching Grandma...need I say more
5. Getting into the Pirate mood.
6. Making the Pirate cake...I have great respect for "real" cake decorators.
7. Planning tons of games... playing 2 of them and realizing all the kids really want to do is sword fight with the swords they just got.
8. Watching Grandpa watch the big black clouds that were rolling in and giving us by the minute weather reports.
9. Hearing the kids say.."this is SO much fun!"
10. Logan having his OWN friends come to HIS birthday that is all about HIM...nothing better.

Almost!

We almost made it injury free before Logan's birthday. The birthday injury curse continues! Well kindof...he didn't need stitches or anything. But it was a pretty nasty scrape on his arm. He was rollerblading and biffed it hard...poor little guy.
